Summary: The Queen has made herself a strange ally for life. A double drabble.
Queen Victoria brushed the dust from her long skirts and reluctantly took the hand that was proffered to her, helping her back to her feet. 'Thank you, Captain,' she said, feeling slightly embarrassed. 'One does not normally find oneself in quite so much bother.'
'No trouble at all, Your Majesty,' he replied, looking every bit as cheeky and smug as before.
'One considered you a bit of a rogue when we first met.'
He shrugged off the suggestion. 'I've been called worse. And not by such esteemed company.'
She snorted in amusement. 'One is not surprised. And yet, one could also say that you have been quite an asset to the Empire. One should think all is not lost with such fine men and women working for the Torchwood Institute. One trusts that you find the work interesting?'
'Don't you worry about me, Your Majesty, he assured her. I'm in it for the long haul. You won't be getting rid of me for a long time yet.'
She furrowed her brow at him. 'One does not yet know if they should be pleased about that or not.'
He chuckled. 'What's say we find out the answer to that one together.'
