Summary: One of life's great mysteries is finally solved. A double drabble.
'People used to laugh at me when I posited the theory,' Jack said, standing near the fifty foot mountain of socks now taking up a large space on the Principality Stadium football pitch. 'I always said there was something connected to the rift that made dryers eat socks. Now it turns out we know it's true.'
'It's not really all that helpful though, is it?' Gwen replied, frowning at the pile which had a smell that didn't remind her of being freshly laundered. 'We still don't know where they get taken, or why. All we've got is a whole bunch of them returned en masse.'
'Well, at least we know they all end up in the same place when they get stolen.'
'I suppose a negative rift spike that dumps stolen socks is better than the usual,' Ianto agreed. Pre-loved socks were far better than irreparably damaged human beings.
'Hey, think we might find mine?' Jack asked.
'I doubt there's a single matching pair among them. Not unless they end up in the same place as their abandoned mates sent to landfill, and before you say it, no. I'm not going through the whole pile looking for your missing socks.'
