Summary: Not all cover stories need to be terribly far from the truth. A double drabble.
‘Okay, Tosh,’ Jack said as the four of them piled back into the hub. ‘Start the social media buzz going. We’re gonna have to be quick to dispel all those videos that are bound to be popping up online any minute.’ He chuckled and shook his head. Some alien practical jokes actually were kinda funny, but not when you started turning all the residents in the city blue just for fun. ‘Put a message out that people should boil their drinking water and avoid washing with it.’
‘Ironic,’ Owen remarked, ‘since it’ll take bringing the water to boiling point for that antidote to start working. Not that it’s going to fix the problem for those poor buggers using their own tank water and not the treatment plant water we just dosed.’
‘Can’t do much about that,’ Jack replied. ‘Besides, doesn’t it make for a nice change that our solution to a fake public health scare is actually exactly what they should do to fix the real health scare?’
Ianto frowned at them. ‘You realise that bringing water to boiling point actually ruins the coffee, don’t you?’
‘It’s a sacrifice you’ll have to make.Trust me, blue really isn’t your colour.’
