Title: Prepared for anything
Character: Jack, Ianto
Author: m_findlow
Author: m_findlow
Rating: PG
Length: 200 words
Summary: Ianto takes Jack's instructions to heart. A double drabble.
‘All ready to go for tomorrow, sir,’ Ianto reported, gripping the top of the SUV’s boot, readying to shut it.
Jack raised an eyebrow when he looked at the back of the SUV. ‘Are you sure this is all of it?’
Ianto frowned back at him, looking worried. ‘Sir?’
Ah, Jack realised. Ianto thought he was implying that he'd missed something. Only Ianto, Jack thought. How to put it politely? ‘I mean, I know I said grab us some gear so that we can camp out if we need to, but…’
It wasn't just tents and a few ready to eat meals. Ianto had packed sleeping bags and plates and a stove, real food and fifty other things Jack wouldn't have thought about. Jack was used to kipping with nothing more than the coat on his back. This was almost glamping, but not quite. A Torchwood trip to the Brecon Beacons was still hardly living it up. He hoped that they wouldn't need any of it, but this investigation was a little outside their usual remit.
Ianto continued to stare at him, waiting. ‘Yes?’
Jack bit back on his words. ‘Good work,’ he said. ‘This was just what I wanted.’
