Summary: Spoiled dates are not without their better moments. A double drabble.
Jack smiled, leaning back in his chair as Ianto sauntered into his office, carrying coffee and pastries. They deserved a sugary reward after today’s events. ‘Nice to see you back in the land of the visible, Ianto Jones,’ Jack said. ‘And looking good.’
Ianto preened his jacket unconsciously. ‘I'll admit that there’s an upside to being noticed, and you know me, I usually prefer subtle.’
‘Guess I owe you another date now, huh?’ Not that Jack minded one bit. ‘Chalk up yet another disastrous attempt to spend time together.’
‘Well, it was certainly memorable,’ Ianto replied, setting into the chair opposite and clasping his own mug. ‘You threw yourself in front of me so that I didn't get mauled to death by a rampaging tiger. Can’t say many dates have that.’
Jack shrugged off the apparent heroics. ‘Well, you know, it's just what you do, isn't it?’
Ianto smirked over the rim of his mug. ‘Couldn't resist being the hero and saving me from a fate worse than death?’
‘I will always throw myself in front of you if it keeps you safe. You’re too gorgeous to let that happen.’
Ianto sighed. ‘You should have quit while you were ahead.’
