Character: Ianto, Jack
Author: m_findlow
Author: m_findlow
Rating: PG
Length: 200 words
Summary: Ianto has some serious misgivings about Jack's plan. A double drabble.
‘That is a terrible idea,’ Ianto said, frowning at Jack to underscore his opinion.
‘Why?’ Jack sounded genuinely surprised by Ianto’s reticence. ‘We know that something is going on around the Serenity Plaza estate, and we know that Cell 114 are bad news. We need a way to get in there and find out what’s going on. Any sniff of Torchwood around and they’ll go to ground and we might never find them again. Not until it’s way too late to stop them.’
Ianto didn’t doubt the danger that Cell 114 posed, but there had to be other alternatives that they hadn’t yet canvassed. ‘Undercover? Really?’
‘It’s simple. We just go in as the new couple on the block.’
‘Couple!’ This was getting worse by the minute. Ianto assumed he’d meant that they’d move in to separate houses.
‘We need deep cover, Ianto. The neighbours need to believe it. We can’t just pass off Gwen and Owen as a thing.’
Ianto quirked an eyebrow. ‘Even though they were?’
‘Past tense,’ Jack reminded him. ‘We’re together anyway. Nobody will suspect we’re anything other than two lovebirds looking to make a fresh start somewhere new. It’s perfect.’
Perfect for who, Ianto wondered.
