Summary: Tosh feels the unfairness of it all. A double drabble.
Tosh stood in the heavy drizzle for hours, ignorant to the cold and the wet seeping into her bones. She couldn't do this anymore, watching good people suffer and die. And for what? So that she could go back to doing her job without having to pay the same price? It didn’t feel fair.
She wished Tommy were here, not back in 1918 where he must have been scared half to death. Then she reminded herself that thinking of him in those terms was pointless. He couldn’t be scared now, because that was over eighty years in the past. He’d been dead for almost as long, with no memory of Toshiko or Torchwood or of love or happiness. Just brutal war and death.
Tosh was hurting, not just for the injustice of it all, but selfishly also for herself. It felt like she was never going to have more than a fleeting moment of love or happiness for herself. The only other person she could see herself loving barely even knew she existed beyond being her co-worker. Being rejected by someone who didn’t love you was bad enough. That Owen couldn't see how she felt about him hurt even more.
