Summary: Ianto didn't think he was doing anythung wrong
Ianto stepped out into the pale sunshine, feeling its warmth on his face and lifting his head towards it like a flower. Today was going to be one of those perfect days.
So far their morning had gone reasonably well. He and Jack had been out pounding the pavements, ticking odd jobs off their respective to-do lists, always amazed at how quickly they mounted up when you lost a few days consecutive to the whims of the rift.
They'd been visiting one of the many underground spaces in the city that harboured the kinds of shops that catered to their intergalactic residents. Their proprietors were grateful to be settled in the city, but it didn't hurt to check by every so often and make sure they weren't selling anything they shouldn't be.
They'd been about to leave when one of their residents called after Jack, wanting a word.
'I'll just be a few minutes,' Jack promised him, ducking back inside and out of view. Ianto didn't mind. All the more time to enjoy the weather and the watch the people of Cardiff going about their day, completely unaware of their alien counterparts doing the same right under their noses.
His business finished, Jack bounced back up the stairs two at a time in high spirits, slipping out through the narrow door and along the side street to meet up with his lover. Perhaps lunch at that little cafe on the next block, since the weather was being so kind.
When he stepped out onto the high street, the last thing he expected was to see Ianto standing next to a pretty blonde woman, smiling and laughing. Huh, maybe she was an old friend from uni or something. He watched as they chatted animatedly, before she reached out and touched his elbow, planting a kiss on his cheek and leaving. Jack bristled before returning to where his lover was standing.
'Who was that?' he said, trying not to sound annoyed.
'Oh, no one. A tourist,' Ianto replied. 'She was just after directions.'
'Looked like she was after a little more than directions,' Jack said. He turned to face Ianto. 'Were you flirting with her?'
'What? Me? No!' Ianto replied, flustered. He was with Jack. He didn't flirt with other people. He didn't flirt, end of. He didn't even know how to. He was always amazed how he'd ever ended up on a date with anyone, uselessly stuttering out nonsense until someone handed him a phone number, leaving him utterly baffled as to what had happened.
'Ianto Jones, you little heartbreaker,' Jack said, amused by Ianto's reaction. He couldn't be mad or jealous at someone who had no idea what effect he had on people.
'I didn't do anything, I swear,' Ianto replied.
Jack seized him in the middle of the street, kissing him until Ianto finally started kissing him back.
'You're just too sexy and too friendly for your own good. I'm going to have to keep better tabs on you.'
