Summary: The forecast for the hub didn't mention anything about fog...

'Oops.'

That was the last word Ianto heard before being enveloped in a thick dark blue haze. That and the sound of something clattering. He was confused. Had someone switched off the lights, or had someone broken them altogether?

'Ianto, are you still there?' he heard Jack's voice.

'I'm here,' he replied. 'Where are you?'

'Here,' came the reply.

'Well, that's helpful. Where's here?'

'Just he-,' then something bumped into him and a hand got smacked into his face.

'Ow, that's my nose!' Ianto cried, putting a protective hand over it.

'Sorry. I didn't see it there.'

Well, he supposed that was a fair comment. He couldn't even see Jack now, knowing he couldn't be more than a foot in front of him.

'So, I'm not imagining that the hub just turned blue?' he asked.

'Nope. At least it's a nice shade of blue, though.'

Oh, yes. Because that was all important, that it be just the right shade of midnight...

'Is it smoke or something?'

'Too dense for smoke,' Jack said, wafting a hand in front of him and praying he didn't end up smacking his lover again in the process. 'It's more like fog.'

'Last I checked, fog can't just randomly descend. Not indoors, anyway. And it didn't exactly descend, either. It was as if someone had just turned out the lights. Hang on,' he said, pausing, 'I heard you say "oops" just before this all happened. What was oops?'

'Ah, that. I might have dropped that box thing we found.'

'Well, you either dropped it or you didn't.'

'I was trying to undo the pin on the side to get a look inside. Only the pin was jammed in harder than I thought. The box just kinda slipped out of my grip when it finally gave way.'

'More of your very fine investigative work,' Ianto quipped. 'So, just checking the immediate threat. Should I be worried about breathing this stuff in?'

'No one's died yet,' Jack said, as if that was sufficient to answer his question.

'How very reassuring.'

'It's okay,' Jack said, tentatively reaching out a hand, and finding some part of Ianto's body in the process. 'I think I figured out what it is.'

'You did?'

'Yeah, I've seen this stuff before, back in my Time Agency days. It's the equivalent of a smoke bomb. Blinds your enemy so that you can get in or out, depending on the situation. Never seen it on this scale, though. Probably military grade issue. Should clear itself in an hour or three.'

'Great. So, what do we do in the meantime? I can't even see my phone to call the others and tell them not to come in. We're just stuck in an invisible fog.'

Jack wrapped an arm around Ianto, now that he'd found him. 'Oh, I could think of a few ways to kill time that don't require us to be able to see what we're doing.'

'Oh. Not just a pretty face, after all,' Ianto replied.
