Challenge 357 - A matter of taste

Title: A matter of taste
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Jack, Ianto
Rating: G
Challenge: 357 - Dinosaur
Notes: A home cooked meal stirs up old memories

'What did you say this was again?' Jack said, looking up from his plate across the table at Ianto.

Ianto huffed.

'If you're going to be like this, I'll stop cooking for you.'

'No, no,' Jack apologised, 'I am genuinely interested.'

Ianto looked at him quizzically.

'Salt Marsh Lamb,' he answered, watching Jack, gauging his reaction.

'Huh,' Jack replied.

'Why?'

'Reminds me of the roasted dinosaur if had once.'

'After the asteroid crashed? You know, I always hoped you were lying when you said that.'

'When you're stuck at the end of the earth, you take what you can get.'

I'm still trying to work out if Jack was complimenting Ianto's cooking or insulting it...

I don't think Ianto knows either!

Luckily Jack's next comment was "Actually, it was surprisingly delicious. Nothing's quite compared with it until now."

At which point Ianto replies "And your chances of scoring tonight just increased dramatically."

He's a smooth operator, our Jack.

For every time he's put his foot in his mouth, there's another ten times where he's deftly skirted complete disaster with his silver tongue.
