Drabble_weekly Challenge 107 - Done out of love

Title: Done out of love
Fandom: Torchwood
Author: m_findlow
Characters/Pairing: Gwen
Rating: PG
Challenge: 107 - Torn at [livejournal.com profile] drabble_weekly
Warnings: none
Spoilers: none
Summary: Gwen has a difficult choice to make. A double drabble.

Gwen felt torn. Part of her wanted Rhys to be a million miles away from Torchwood and all that it entailed. Their lives had been so much simpler before he'd started nosing around, forcing her to lie more and more to protect him. On the other hand, she wanted Rhys to stand firm against Jack.

Jack always thought that he knew best, and that he could do things his way. She didn't want Jack belittling the risks Rhys had taken to get on the inside, finding out what they were up to. Perhaps it had been stupid, getting involved, but she admired Rhys for taking the risk. What he'd really been after was to make sure she was safe. That had to outweigh the stupidity of his actions.

That's why Jack was so mad. Jack wanted her, that much was clear. She wanted to show him she was off the market. He'd had his chance and blown it. Rhys hadn't taken off on her. He hadn't abandoned her, and he never would. Rhys was as much a part of her life as Torchwood. She'd show Jack. Rhys was coming with them whether he liked it or not. She loved Rhys.

There was definitely no confusion it was meant as a compliment, so thank you. My response was a facetious one. ;) I know what you mean though, getting inside her head is hard. Distilling it down to what's really going on is the challenge and often easier to grab hold of when she's not having to compete with other characters. One of the good things about Miracle Day was that most of the other characters were were stripped away so she got a chance to be her own character (if that makes sense).
I only got into the Fandom in late 2011 so you'll have to forgive me for producing more Jack/Ianto fic. I haven't exhausted that yet, and writing it is less tiresome perhaps that reading it. It's an easy mindset to slip into when I'm short on time or energy. I'd like to have more time to put each of them in adventures where they're on their own and allowed to do their own thing (rather like the audioplays, which I was skeptical about at first since they would only feature one main character at a time, but they're actually quite good).
