Summary: Qyburn's great project has finally come to fruition.

There was a sharp intake of breath from Qyburn as a guttural gasp emanated from the stone slab behind him. A little smile broke out over his face. All those pious maesters and their highly principled ideals. None of them would even achieve the greatness he just had.

He turned slowly so as not to startle his little project. 'It is quite alright,' he said. 'You are among friends here.'

The huge brute of a man, colloquially known by the people in King's Landing and beyond simply as the Mountain, thrashed in his attempts to sit up. Qyburn rushed to his side and did his best to calm the man, knowing full well that it would take only a singularly well placed swing of the Mountain's arm to knock him out completely, and perhaps even crush his skull right in on itself. One thing he'd learned in his years of study was that mind was a precious thing, housed in safety only by the bones that surrounded it, and even that was little defence against a brutal force. But the mind was also malleable in the metaphorical sense. He intended to make use of that now.

'There, there,' Qyburn repeated in hushed tones. 'We are very pleased to have you back with us, Ser Gregor.'

If the Mountain understood the words he didn't show it. He let his grunts do all the talking for him.

'I fear you are not quite as handsome as you once were,' Qyburn explained. To say that the man had been handsome before would have been a kindness, but now he was a horror to behold. His skin was mottled grey with spindly veins tracing all over his body in various shades of red and purple, like a tattoo created by a madman. But it was the eyes that would no doubt strike fear into hearts. Seeing them for the  first time since the Mountain had first been resurrected from death made even Qyburn slightly wary. They were bright red and as bloodshot as any he'd ever seen. People had been terrified of the man before, but now he would be the great jewel in the Queen's crown of her Kingsguard.

The Mountain made to stand up and Qyburn helped him from the table, keeping his touches tender and unthreatening. 'I have borought you back from the very grips of death itself, Ser Gregor. A feat that sad never before been done in all of the Seven Kingdoms. The Queen  simply could not stand by and let Oberyn Martell put an end to her greatest warrior and servant. She will reward you deeply for your service to the realm.'

Ser Gregor grunted. He had always been somewhat dull witted, but he seemed to understand just enough to be useful.

'We must get you washed and dressed so that you can take your rightful place at our beloved Queen's side. She had many enemies that will need to be killed. I think you should like that.'
