Challenge 597 - Partly to blame

Title: Partly to blame
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Ianto
Rating: PG
Challenge: 597 - Joint at [livejournal.com profile] tw100
Notes: Ianto is wracked with guilt as the chaos begins to unfold. A double drabble.

To say Ianto felt bad about opening the rift was the understatement of the century. Watching CCTV of Roman soldiers wandering the streets of Cardiff, striking down innocent people with their swords had been bad enough but now they were reporting someone at A and E showing all the hallmarks of bubonic plague.

Owen had been hell bent on opening the rift to get Jack and Tosh back, no matter what. Ianto stood in his way, threatening him with a gun before finally shooting him, albeit he only wounded Owen, and not enough to really stop him. He knew how stubborn Owen could be.

If anything they were jointly to share in the blame for what was happening. Ianto wanted Jack and Tosh back just as much as Owen did, maybe more, but he also knew that Jack said never to mess with the rift -not ever. If he'd known just how bad it would be, he'd have shot Owen a lot closer to his heart to stop him.

No amount of selfishly wanting his lover back was going to make up for the destruction they'd cause if they couldn't fix this and put everything back the way it was.
