Summary: Jack and Ianto have differing opinions on what constitutes a suitable appetite.

Ianto looked up as Jack knocked on the edge of the doorway. It was so unlike him to be so polite. With their two offices side by side, separated by a door that was almost always open, Jack usually just barged in. 'What's up?'

Jack pushed away from the doorway, stepping inside. 'Just checking if you needed anything. Water, tea, donuts, a nap...' He raised an eyebrow at Ianto, expecting him to acquiesce to at least one of those options, possibly all four.

'I'm good,' he replied.

'Have you had anything to eat since breakfast?'

Ianto checked his watch. The days had a habit of slipping by without him noticing. There was just always so much to do that the hours sped by, making him regularly miss meals. Surprisingly though, his watch only read ten thirty. 'Breakfast wasn't that long ago.'

'I know, but aren't you hungry?'

'Not really.' He pointed to a small plastic container on his desk that had a variety of carrot and celery sticks, cubes of cheese, dried apricots and a handful of almonds. 'I've got these to nibble on if I get peckish.'

Jack picked up the container and looked at the contents disparagingly. 'That's it? That's all you've got to eat?'

'I'm not that hungry between meals,' Ianto insisted.

Jack set the box back down and frowned at him. 'You're not that hungry at meals either.' He sat down on the edge of the desk and took Ianto's hand. 'Are you sure you're feeling okay? Do I need to get Jez to check you over?'

Ianto swatted away Jack's fussing. 'I'm fine. Really.'

Jack looked at him in askance. 'Really? Because last I checked you should be eating for four and you're barely eating enough for one. Why, when I was pregnant I was like a bottomless pit with hollow legs to match. I could put away six donuts, three burgers and a whole tub of ice cream just for a light snack.'

Ianto chuckled and rolled his eyes. 'You still are a bottomless pit with hollow legs. I don't think being pregnant had anything to do with it. And maybe if you'd being eating food that had some actual nutritional value, you wouldn't have had to eat so much.'

Jack harrumphed at the insinuation. 'I still don't think you're eating enough.'

Ianto tried to be patient with his worry wart of a husband. 'I spent weeks being so nauseous I brought more up than I kept down. Now that I'm past that, I'd like to keep it that way. I know my body, Jack.' Even if it felt weird to say that when he was pregnant with triplets. 'They come first, always. If I thought I needed to eat like a horse I would. But I'm fine, they're fine and I wish you'd be fine and stop fretting all the time.'

Jack sighed in defeat. 'Okay. I'm only looking out for you.'

'I know. If I get a donut craving, I'll tell you.'
