Summary: Jack and Ianto return to the scene of the crime to admire their handiwork. Sequel to Partners in crime
No sooner had the cogwheel door alarms sounded their arrival than Jack could hear Owen yelling.
'You bastards and going to pay for this!'
Jack raised an eyebrow at Ianto. 'Apparently we're going to pay for something.'
He watched as the tiniest little smirk tugged at the corner of Ianto's mouth. 'I can't imagine what.'
Jack grinned. 'Me either. What seems to be the problem?' he called out, taking the steps two at a time and striding towards his office, knowing it was going to put him sailing past Owen's medical bay in the process. Gwen and Tosh were sitting in their chairs but facing away from their computer monitors, trying hard to keep from erupting into another round of giggles.
'It smells amazing in here,' Jack remarked. 'Kinda like… oh, what am I thinking of, Ianto?' he asked, turning back to his prankster partner.
'Like pink candy floss,' he replied deftly.
Jack snapped his fingers. 'That's it, exactly. Like Barry Island candy floss.' He leaned over the medical bay railing and saw for the first time the product of their handiwork. The chemical cocktail they'd injected into that bowels of the alien corpse had worked even better than expected; perhaps a little too well. The bright pink foam filled the whole space and only stopped just a few inches shy of that uppermost step. 'It even looks like it,' he said. 'Owen, did our alien die of an overdose of fairground food?'
Owen had his arms folded as he stood at the top of the steps, looking livid as he stood there damp and his lab coat stained the same shade of lurid pink. 'Oh, yeah, like you don't know anything about this. You think it's funny?' He turned his ire towards Ianto. 'And don't think I don't know you were involved either. This has your fingerprints all over it.'
'Owen, you wound me,' Ianto replied, clutching his chest. 'Jack and I were shattered when we got home last night. We fell asleep on the sofa and only crawled into bed hours later.'
Owen snorted. 'Yeah, I bet you would have loved to be here when I finally managed to get a scalpel into that thing. Once you had me convinced they were all blunt except one, that is.'
Gwen giggled again. 'It was like the shower scene in Psycho. Owen screamed like a girl.'
'Then, kaboom!' Tosh said, before falling into giggles herself.
'Kaboom is right,' Jack said, studying the result. 'I take it the body is still under there somewhere?'
'I was lucky to make it out of there without drowning in that candy scented muck,' Owen complained. 'God it stinks.'
'It's better than most of your autopsies,' Ianto argued.
Owen glared at the pair of them, trying to pick apart their innocent expressions. 'Just you wait. I'll get mine back at you and you'll be sorry when I do.'
Ianto rolled his eyes. 'Coffee, anyone?'
'Yes, please,' Jack said. 'Owen might need a shower first, though.'
