Summary: Rhys is convinced that the weather is Torchwood's doing. A double drabble.
'It's that bloody rift of yours, Gwennie,' Rhys complained, padding back from the kitchen with a fresh jug of homemade sangria and setting it on the coffee table. He flopped back on the settee and resumed fanning himself with last week's junk mail even as the sheen of sweat reformed in his forehead. Even dressed in his shorts and a singlet that did his middle aged beer belly no favours, he couldn't seem to stay cool.
Gwen was in her own shorts and top, but she was coping somehow. A fresh jug of fruity booze and lots of ice was definitely helping. 'It's not us, love,' she said, pouring herself a tall glass and settling back on the settee next to him, but just far enough away that his sweaty body wasn't plastered to her.
'It's got to be,' he argued. 'Cardiff doesn't do hot summer nights.'
Cardiff didn't even do summer, Gwen felt like saying, but Jack had assured her that this freak patch of stunning days and sweltering nights was nothing to do with them. It was a freak weather event to be savored, not soured.
'You're always whining about the rain. Just stop moaning and enjoy it.'
