Summary: Ianto's Torchwood One mates contemplate the future over beers. A double drabble.
Ianto knew he shouldn't have another drink. He had to work tomorrow. They all did. But Kieran was buying and it felt rude to be the group's wet blanket.
'One more round and we should all go home,' he told them as he raised the glass to his lips.
'Spoilsport,' Rachel chided, giving him a playful nudge that suggested they might carry on with the fun and frivolity back at his place.
Keiran slugged back half his pint before slamming it on the table. 'You ever thought about taking over the top job, Ianto?'
Ianto nearly spat out his own beer. 'What? Me in charge?'
'Yeah. I mean, down the road and all. Yvonne won't be round forever, and you are her bloke Friday. Bet you know how the place runs from top to bottom.'
Rachel grabbed at his arm. 'You'd be brill, Ianto.'
He did his best to downplay their faith in him. 'I prefer not to look too far ahead. And I'm much better at making sure other people have what they need than telling them what I need. Plus, if I was in charge, we wouldn't be able to go out for drinks like this,' he teased.
