Summary: Ianto is overwhelmed by choice. A double drabble.
Walking into London Central Debenhams was like stepping into another world. Ianto was starting his new job at Torchwood in a week and he needed a suit. Or perhaps a few. He'd never owned or needed one until now and he didn't know where to start.
The place wasn't like how it must have been when his Dad had worked here. Customer service? What customer service? There wasn't anyone in sight, let alone someone who might help him with what he needed.
He should have listened more carefully to all his Dad's advice on what to look for in buying a nice suit. All he could remember was "double-breasted is well out of fashion. Unless you're a mobster". As it was he didn't even see any double-breasted suits on offer.
He pawed through the racks, deciding maybe pinstripe was the way to go, and perhaps white shirts were a safer bet than attempting anything in the coloured range.
In any case, he could always bring it back if it didn't work. He knew their returns policy back to front.
'What d'you reckon?' he asked the girl at the checkout. 'Corporate-y enough?'
She smiled unenthusiastically. 'I'm sure you'll look very smart.'
