Summary: Jack is out of ideas on how to communicate with their captive alien. A double drabble.
Jack was at the end of his patience as he ran out of ideas for trying to communicate with the large orange jelly creature. Gwen and Ianto had told him to give up, but that only made him more determined.
He'd been to enough places to be able to identify sentient life when he saw it. He also knew more than his fair share of alien languages, but nothing even pricked up its ears when he tried them all in turn, assuming it had ears that could hear him. It just sat there in the cell, occasionally undulating, and threatening to electrocute anyone who risked touching it. Electric jelly aliens. Wasn't the universe just great?
He was procrastinating, of course. The world looked like it was ending - again - and then there were those Hokrala Corporation goons who wanted Jack arrested or dead. Yet somehow Jack had a hunch that blobby here was somehow connected to all of it. Maybe it had the answers Jack needed. If he could only figure out how…
Oh well, he thought, trying one last ditch idea, reaching in his hand and shoving it through the electrified jelly mass. What was the worst that could happen?
