Summary: Kathy has Torchwood right where she wants them. A double drabble.
Kathy Swanson listened to her boots clicking along the hallway. There were days when she loathed the job, but every now and then there were bright patches. Today felt like one of those.
Further down a uniformed constable stood looking tired. To be fair he'd been standing there for most of the day. There was also the distinctive sound of the holding cell's occupant still loudly protesting.
'Update?' she asked of the constable.
The constable stood a little straighter, preparing to give her his report.' Still rambling on about his rights, ma'am. You don't suppose we should maybe let him go? He did say he was Torchwood, and… Only I don't want to end up in their bad books, if you know what I mean.'
Kathy nodded thoughtfully, as if considering it. The sounds from the cell were enough to convince her. 'Let's keep him in for a bit longer,' she said. 'He'll either get tired or run out of air in there.'
The constable coughed awkwardly. 'I don't think the holding cells are airtight, ma'am.'
'Well, you never know,' she replied. 'At the rate Harkness is going he might very well prove us wrong.' A girl could but hope.
