Summary: Owen isn't as convinced that Ianto's gift really is one. A double drabble.
‘What is that?’ Owen asked, seeing Ianto carrying a gift bag.
‘It's a late birthday present from Jack.’
Owen snorted. ‘What, your boyfriend couldn't even manage to remember the big date?’
‘No, it just took longer to arrive than he expected.’ Ianto pulled out a large sealed foil bag and Owen sensed he knew what it was.
‘Have you cracked it open yet?’ Jack asked, approaching with a pleased look on his face. ‘Personally, I can't wait. Now you really will be the king of coffee.’
‘You didn't buy him that squirrel poo coffee, did you?’
‘The beans are digested by a civet,’ Ianto clarified. ‘They're only interested in the outer layer of flesh.’
‘Still, goes in one end and comes out the other, doesn't it?’
‘Is that the medical term for it?’ Jack teased.
‘All I'm saying is that I'm not drinking poo coffee.’
‘Your loss,’ Ianto replied. ‘So, who's for coffee?’ Three hands went up. ‘You're sure, Owen? Because once I put these in the grinder, there's no alternative. It's that or nothing.’
Owen looked suddenly torn. No coffee was almost a fate worse than death, but he stuck to his guns. Some things just weren't worth risking.
