Summary: Some thankyou's are odd by Earth standards. A double drabble.
Tosh saw the incoming alert pinging on her screen. ‘Jack, we’ve got an incoming transmat beam request.’
Jack jogged over to her desk, caught halfway between excited and worried. ‘Any calling card signal yet?’
Tosh tapped a few keys, then nodded. ‘Yes, confirmed it's friendly.’
‘Then patch them through and give them the green light.’
No sooner had he given the instruction than a beam of white light lit up the base of the invisible life, and on top of it now sat an enormous metal crate. Jack didn't hesitate in skipping down the steps to check it out. ‘Did they say who they were and what this was?’
‘It was those Keranians that passed through our star system last week. Apparently this is a thankyou gift for giving them directions.’
Ianto was promptly at Jack's side, offering up a crowbar, and Owen hovered nearby, curious as to what constituted a gift from an alien world. Jack prised open the lid and whistled as he saw the contents.
‘That’s a lot of peanuts,’ Ianto observed.
‘One point one metric tonnes to be exact,’ Tosh called out. ‘Salted.’
‘Ianto, we’re going to need to order a lot more beer,’ Owen said.
