Summary: Ianto makes sure UNIT know where they stand. A double drabble.
'Welcome to Brussels, Mister Jones,' the UNIT Major General greeted him, offering up a handshake instead of a salute. 'Is this your first time?'
'First time as the head of Torchwood,' he clarified. He didn't want the chiefs at UNIT to think this was his first barbecue. He'd prepared for some resistance to the changing of the guard. UNIT weren't enthused at having to deal with Torchwood at the best of times. Having to get the measure of a brand new head in charge put them on the defensive. So much the better, in his opinion. They could do with some wrangling after the snubbing Torchwood usually received.
'A Welshman, I see,' the Major General mused. 'Well, at least we've got British representation at long last, not that pompous Yank who used to swan in here. God alone knows how he ever came to be in charge. What would the Americans know about how things should be run?'
Ianto knew he'd enjoy this trip. 'For the record, that Yank happens to be my husband, who is in fact not American at all, and also for the record, only I get to call him pompous. Are we clear?'
'Er, crystal, sir.'
