Summary: Torchwood's newest addition has ruffled some feathers. A double drabble.
‘His skin is so soft,’ Gwen said, cuddling the newest addition to the Torchwood family. ‘I never expected that.’
‘I guess it takes a while for it to harden,’ Ianto said. ‘He’s only a wee thing. Chock it up to ongoing research into the development of cretaceous period wildlife.’
‘I can’t believe you just found him in a box on the street.’
‘Well, you know how it is,’ Ianto replied, lying to her about where he’d found the baby pterodactyl. If she’d known how much trouble Jack had gotten into, and that Ianto had been forced to team up with John Hart to free him, she’d never let them hear the end of it. Hywel could continue being endlessly fascinating if it distracted Gwen from asking any hard questions.
‘Alright, people,’ Jack said, ‘enough with the baby petting zoo. We’ve still got real work to do, remember?’
Gwen rolled her eyes, continuing to stroke Hywel’s soft wings as he snuggled into her arms before Ianto finally reclaimed him, adding his own gentle strokes to the top of Hywel’s head and back. ‘Just ignore Jack,’ he said. ‘He’s just jealous that we think something is more cute and cuddly than him.’
