Summary: Owen gets more than a basic explanation for some of their alien tech. A double drabble.
‘What's that?’ Owen asked, pointing to one of Toshiko's many screens, not having yet learned that any question directed towards Torchwood's technology was bound to land him with an explanation that would take days rather than seconds.
‘It's our eye in the sky,’ Tosh replied. ‘We keep an eye on all things extraterrestrial. Just like now. See that speck there?’
Owen peered at the scarcely indiscernible dot she pointed at amongst a sea of dots. ‘What? Are you saying that's alien?’
‘Absolutely,’ Jack called out over the top of them, sailing by as he donned his coat. ‘And we're rolling out the red carpet for them. Don't wait up for me, kids. It's going to be a late one. These guys have unusual greeting practices.’
Suzie looked up from her desk and frowned. ‘By unusual do you mean intimate?’
‘Hey, it's called taking one for the team. A little appreciation would be nice.’
‘Appreciation? You hardly sound as if you're putting yourself out by volunteering.’
Jack chuckled. ‘Suzie Costello, putting out will be the least of my worries.’
Owen looked between the two women as Jack disappeared out the door. ‘You mean he's going up there to…’
Tosh nodded. ‘Yep.’
