‘When you said you had a present for me, this wasn’t what I thought you meant,’ Owen said, staring at his autopsy table, covered in severed alien body parts.
‘I thought you might enjoy the challenge,’ Jack replied. ‘You keep insisting you’re the best doctor in town.’
‘Well, that’s because I am.’ It wasn’t his fault everyone else was an amateur. He used forceps to pick up a piece and squinted at it. ‘Which bit is this supposed to be?’ It was like a jigsaw puzzle with no picture on the box.
Jack shrugged. ‘I was hoping you’d tell me.’
