Summary: Owen believes in a scientific approach. A double drabble.
‘I hate when Jack makes us do this crap,’ Owen complained, pawing disinterestedly through a dusty box of artefacts.
‘It's part of the job,’ Ianto replied, carefully extracting the next item with gloved hands. ‘If we don’t review old items, we might never figure out what they are or what they do.’
‘Because they’re suddenly going to jump up and tell us what they do?’
‘Stop whining, Owen,’ Gwen scolded. ‘You never know. Just because the last team to review them came up empty doesn’t mean we will.’
‘Yeah, cause identifying weird shit is right up our alley,’ he grumbled. He snatched the object from Ianto’s hand, turning it over. ‘What’s this supposed to be?’
Ianto flipped over the thin sheaf of papers that accompanied it. ‘Nothing much here,’ he replied. ‘Only that they said the previous owner wrote in his diary that he believed the object was cursed.’
Owen scoffed. ‘Cursed? Yeah right. Just like all that fortune telling, tarot card reading, hocus pocus mumbo jumbo. A whole lot of bollocks if you ask me.’
There was a loud pop and then they were plunged into darkness.
‘Hey, who turned out the lights?’ Jack yelled.
‘You were saying, Owen?’
