Jack had spent a lifetime running. He could scarcely remember a time when he hadn't been running from one thing or another. Usually away from responsibility, headlong into danger, or just generally running after someone or something. Running away however was not something he was proud of, not even to save his own skin.
He shouldn't have kept poking, but it was as much his nature to keep digging as it was to breathe. He couldn't let go of something once it had him by the nose. In this case, it was George Wilson and these people he called The Committee. He'd prodded too much and now George was dead and Jack in the frame for murder.
He had no choice but to run and lay low until he could figure out who they were and how to stop them. Otherwise he risked putting his entire team in danger. Perhaps he already had. The Committee were cleverer than he'd given them credit, hamstringing him like this. If they knew who he was and the threat Torchwood posed, running might not be enough.
Just how much danger had he put them all in? No time to wonder now. Just keep running.
