Jack sighed loudly as he stepped over the threshold of the archives, letting Ianto know he was finally here. He couldn't blame the man for having left, coming down here to inflict his annoyance at Jack on something inanimate.
‘Ianto, I know you're down here,’ Jack called out when he didn't get any response. He waited but the man didn’t appear. ‘C'mon,’ Jack pleaded, ‘let's get this over and done with already.’ He was ready for it now.
‘Get what over and done with?’ came the voice from behind him which made him turn on his heel.
‘You know what,’ Jack replied. ‘You wanna know why I didn't retcon Rhys. Tell me how I broke protocol and all the reasons I'm wrong.’
Ianto rolled his eyes which only made Jack even more annoyed. ‘I'm not having this argument with you,’ he said, delivering the blunt reply. ‘I know why you didn't. Because you wanted Gwen to see you as the hero she worships, doing a noble thing, except she loves Rhys and thanked you by leaving to be with him. Isn't that punishment enough to your ego, or would you rather have me turn my back on you as well?’
