Summary: Gwen and Ianto share an illicit coffee and discuss current events. A double drabble.
Gwen was about to speak when Ianto put a finger to his lips, indicating she should stay silent. Coffee, he mouthed, setting the sealed takeaway cup in front of her, a second one clutched in his other hand. ‘Don’t tell Agnes,’ he whispered.
‘You’re the best,’ she replied, having had her fill of milky tea at the behest of their assessor. Even Ianto was making sure the coffee was only on the sly so that he didn’t earn her wrath. It was a whole lot better than his tea, that was for sure.
‘I’ll bet Jack was pleased to see you,’ Gwen said, sipping the delicious brew through the tiny hole. He’d been miserable ever since Agnes had shown up, verifying that something awful was headed their way.
‘Wouldn’t know,’ Ianto said, sucking on the top of his own cup. ‘He’s disappeared. Off sulking somewhere, no doubt.’
Gwen hummed in agreement. It was probably for the best. Everything Jack did right now led to an argument with Agnes, who had taken over running the place whilst simultaneously putting Jack through his paces. If she really could shut them down, Jack taking time to cool off was probably a good idea.
