Summary: Ianto has done some very serious thinking during his suspension. A double drabble.

‘You came back,’ Jack observed as he slipped through the internal door to the tourist office, finding Ianto sitting at the computer console, going through his backlog of emails.

Ianto turned slowly on the swivel chair to face him. ‘Not sure what else you expected me to do, sir,’ he replied, heaping his tone level, with just a touch of hesitancy.

‘You didn’t have to come back,’ Jack said, slightly curious to know what had driven Ianto’s decision to come back after his suspension. ‘If you want out, that’s okay.’ He’d be sorry to see Ianto go, but maybe it would be for the best to let him start his life over, clean slate, without Torchwood haunting his every step.

‘I had a lot of time to think about things,’ Ianto began, bracing his hands on his legs. ‘I made mistakes. I’d like to try and start making up for them, if that’s okay with you.’

The response didn’t surprise Jack nearly as much as he expected it to. Torchwood had a habit of doing that, making you feel like there was always something to atone for. Did he think Ianto had made the right choice? Only time would tell.

In his own mind, I don't think Ianto felt there was a choice to make.
