Title: Timing is everything
Character: Ianto, Jack
Author: m_findlow
Rating: PG
Length: 200 words
Summary: Jack's sense of timing is off. A double drabble.
Jack strode down the hallway, already clocking Ianto waiting patiently there just a few yards from Gwen’s front door. At the sight of Jack, he turned and stepped across to block Jack’s path.
‘If you’re here to make your heroic grand entrance, then you’ll have to wait,’ Ianto told him. ‘You’re too early. It hasn’t even kicked off yet.’
He was, of course, referring to the inevitable argument that would ensue when Gwen told Rhys the truth about what they’d been doing, and how she’d conned him into doing the kind of undercover work whereby Rhys didn’t even know he’d been undercover. It was safer that way, they’d all agreed.
Jack huffed in annoyance. ‘Too early?’ He huffed again. ‘I used to be able to time these things perfectly, you know.’
‘I know,’ Ianto said, putting a placating hand on his arm. ‘It’s all about timing with you.’
‘Can’t exactly burst in there and tell Rhys what’s what when he’s not even got a full head of steam about it yet,’ Jack said, still sounding disappointed.
Ianto nodded. ‘I’m sure you won’t have to wait too much longer. In the meantime you can practise your dashing run-up to the door.’
