Summary: Owen is sceptical of Jack's alternate remedies. A double drabble.
‘Phaw!’ Owen cried, waving his hand in front of his face. ‘That is minging.’
Jack ignored him as he carried on stirring the brown and green mixture, apparently oblivious to the stench that was being created by the steam rolling off it as he added more boiling water from the kettle.
‘You’re not seriously thinking of making anyone drink that, are you?’ Teaboy might be stupid enough to trust Jack, but he was going to have a hell of a time convincing Tosh or Gwen to partake. ‘It’s shaman, voodoo nonsense.’
Jack scowled back. ‘It’s proper medicine,’ he retorted. ‘Just because you don’t believe in herbal remedies.’
‘It’s not that I don't believe in them, it's that they don’t work. What’s to say that stuff isn’t going to end up poisoning someone?’
‘I know what I'm doing, Owen. They’ve been brewing this as an antidote for Rigorspiral Vine poisoning for centuries. Unless of course you’d like your teammates vomiting up their insides until they’re so dehydrated they won’t recover.’
Owen frowned as Jack carefully tore up a few more leaves into the mixture, letting them steep. ‘If you say so, but going forward, let's leave making medicine to real doctors.’
