Challenge 765 - Just a short trip
Title: Just a short trip
Character: Jack, Ianto
Author: m_findlow
Author: m_findlow
Rating: PG
Length: 200 words
Summary: Ianto is excited to be in the driver's seat on an important mission. A double drabble.
‘Where are we going, sir?’ Ianto asked, sliding into the driver’s seat and trying not to appear overly excited. He never got to drive the SUV anywhere, not even the carwash; that all had to be cleaned by hand. The closest he got to driving it was moving it from one parking spot to another so that he could hose away the soap suds from the Millennium Centre’s underground car park. He didn't think they’d appreciate him using their facilities to leave a mess when he washed the car.
‘Molly’s,’ came the one word reply.
‘Oh,’ Ianto replied. He’d been hoping for some excitement, some investigation that Jack was hot on the heels of, and everyone else unavailable to assist. He was ready to put the pedal to the metal to get them there post haste, ready to save the city from whatever threatened it. Fish and chips didn’t quite fit in the same league.
‘The masses will be back in twenty and they’re gonna be starving,’ Jack replied. ‘Figured we’d surprise them with dinner ready on the table by the time they get back. Hot and crispy. Mmm…’
Well, a short trip was better than no trip, he supposed.
