'Ianto!' Jack called out. 'How are you going organising those tickets?'
Ianto looked up from his computer screen. 'Just about sorted. I hope you don't mind flying economy.'
Jack frowned. 'Economy from Cardiff to London?' He shrugged. 'I can live with that.'
'Ah, no,' came the hesitant reply. 'Economy from London to Tokyo.'
Jack strode over, looking disappointed. 'You're kidding, right? You couldn't arrange us business class flights?' Jack's look told Ianto everything he needed to know about what Jack thought about flying long haul economy. He supposed at least he hadn't requested first class tickets.
'Well, I could, sir, but we wouldn't be arriving for another two weeks. I can request the exit row for a bit of extra legroom, but that's it at short notice. The rest of the flight is fully booked out.'
Jack folded his arms across his chest. 'Do I need to remind you about the strange underwater sounds near the Mariana Trench we're supposed to be investigating? Couldn't you just hack the system and kick someone else off the flight?'
'I could, but that's a little bit inappropriate, don't you think?'
Jack snatched the keyboard out from under him and began tapping. 'Passenger manifest,' he muttered, mostly to himself. 'Find three people and shunt them. Oh, look. Here's a ticket booked for the UK Minister for Housing and two of his lackeys. Sounds like a travel junket if ever I saw one. They'll do.' He clicked a few more keys. 'And that's them gone. Three perfectly vacant seats on the next flight out ready for us.'
Jack looked up, eyebrows knitting at Ianto's consternation. 'Don't tell me you feel guilty. They were wasting taxpayer money.'
'And we aren't?'
'Don't split hairs. I pay more than my share. About time we got to enjoy it.'
