Rating: PG
Length: 200 words
Summary: Ianto is going through Jack's things and finds something important. A double drabble.
‘You’re going through my stuff,’ Jack declared, spotting Ianto rifling through one of the many dusty steamer trunks he had tucked away down in his underground bunker.
‘I’m not going through it,’ Ianto replied. ‘I’m sorting it for moving into our nice new house. That’s not the same thing.’ He snorted as he continued to paw through the contents. ‘Mind you, it’s mostly junk by the looks of things. Who knew you were such a hoarder.’ He tugged out a small brass key on a piece of string and dangled it. ‘This for instance.’
Jack snatched it away. ‘That’s not junk! That’s very important.’
‘A key is important? Do you even remember what door it unlocks?’
‘Of course I do!’ He draped the string over his head and tucked it away inside his shirt. ‘It’s a lucky charm of sorts.’
There was an arched eyebrow. ‘Of sorts? Does the person who lives there now know you still have that?’
‘Maybe. Not sure. But still… It’s important.’
‘That’s why it was stuffed down here in amongst all your junk.’
‘Keeping it safe,’ Jack said with a narrowing of his eyes. ‘You know I lose stuff in the line of duty.’
‘True.’
