Summary: A little wager keeps things interesting around the hub. A double drabble.
‘Where are you off?’ Owen asked, catching a flash of coat out from the corner of his eye.
‘Nowhere special,’ Jack replied. ‘I'll be back when I'm back.’
As the cogwheel door clanged shut Owen turned to his teammates. ‘Alright, ladies. A tenner to start us off.’
‘Ten?’ Tosh cried. ‘Last time it was only five.’
‘You've got to bet big to win big. So, who’s in?’
Gwen slapped her ten pounds on the desk. ‘Seven this evening.’
Owen scoffed but took the money. ‘Soft,’ he said. ‘I'm in for midnight. No, scratch that, just after midnight. Tosh?’
She chewed her lip before opening her purse. ‘Two hours from now.’
Owen shook his head disappointedly. ‘Come on, Tosh. It's Jack. When has he ever been back inside four hours when he goes on one of his mystery quests.’ He arched an eyebrow at Ianto. ‘What'll it be, Teaboy? When's our esteemed leader returning, d'you reckon?’
He slid a crisp banknote across Owen's desk. ‘Tuesday.’
‘Tuesday? It's only Friday.’
Ianto shrugged. ‘Take it or leave it.’
Owen scrunched the tenner and added it to the others. ‘Fine, but if I find out you know something we don't, all bets are off.’
