Summary: Taking a while to fix things is sometimes a plus. A double drabble.

‘There’s a fair amount of damage here,’ Jack reported, sliding out from under the large spacecraft. His hands were black with grease and there was a matching smudge across his cheek which went ignored despite Ianto making hand signals that it was there. ‘I’d say we’re up for a few weeks to get her ship-shape and ready to take flight again.’

‘That’ll give me a chance to better understand these quantum crystal drives they use,’ Tosh said enthusiastically. ‘There wasn’t going to be enough time to download and analyse a full data set without help.’

‘And I've got all their biosamples to review,’ Owen added. ‘There’s stuff in their DNA immunosuppressive coding I wouldn't mind asking a few more questions about.’

‘We’ll be able to do a proper culture exchange,’ Gwen said, beaming at the prospect. ‘It's not often we have more than a few days to really get into understanding alien customs and sharing our own with them.’

‘Personally, this ship’s a beauty,’ Jack confessed. ‘She’ll be a treat to work on.’ He frowned. ‘Ianto? Everyone else is excited. How about you?’

‘Yeah, I get to cook, clean and wash up for fifty guests. Should be a real hoot.’

Poor Ianto. Maybe they should draft Rhys in to do the cooking and cleaning.
