I don't know either! Maybe it was the pressure of the countdown app on my phone that displayed the deadline every single time I opened my phone. Without it I probably would have procrastinated more, but it did take a big effort. I'm making up for last year where I started Spook_me but never finished (by a long way). Think I'll step back from this fic for a while before deciding whether to tinker with it. I can tick off my "big fic" box for this year. Phew!
