Summary: Ianto is startled awake by an intrusion. A double drabble.
‘Ow! Goddamnit!’
The loud swearing broke Ianto from sleep with a sudden sense of alarm, followed by a distinctive sounding “argh”. He immediately jumped from the bed, reaching into his bedside drawer for his gun and rushed to his lover’s defence.
When he got there, flipping on the hallway light, he found Jack alone. ‘Where’d they go?’
‘Who?’
‘The burglars.’
‘What burglars?’
‘I heard them attack you.’
‘Attack me? No, I just rammed my shin into your stupid sideboard.’
‘My…’ Ianto’s brain took a minute to catch up. ‘Why would you do that?’
Jack rolled his eyes at Ianto. ‘Well, obviously I didn't do it on purpose! I was thirsty so I was getting up to go to the kitchen to get a drink and I forgot this thing was in the hall. It was too dark to see it.’
‘That would be why I have things called lights.’
‘To be fair, the last time I stayed over I could get around just fine in the dark because the moon was out and it gave off enough light to see things.’
‘So, now it’s the moon’s fault?’
‘No, but I'm seriously considering what kind of idiot puts furniture in hallways.’
