Length: 200 words
Summary: The team is down for the count after contracting an alien virus. A double drabble.
Jack was surprised to see Ianto slowly shuffling into his office, before he sank down in the chair opposite with a loud sigh.
‘I thought I'd sent you all home,’ Jack said. You need to lie down and get a few days rest, he added. They’d all been infected with the virus, and whilst it was alien and potent, it wouldn’t do any lasting harm. It just rendered them exhausted and too weak to do anything.
‘The weevils won’t feed themselves,’ Ianto replied in a weary voice. ‘What usually takes me half an hour took two hours, and another hour to climb the stairs back here. At one point I nearly decided to just give up and lie down on the stairs.’
Jack sympathised. He was trying to finish up his report on the computer but his arms felt like they had lead weights attached to them and he could scarcely hold them over the keyboard. ‘So get your head down,’ he ordered. ‘Rest.’
Ianto did so, resting his head on his arms, draped across Jack’s desk. It wasn’t a bad idea, Jack replicating the motion and giving his tired body a reprieve.
‘Wake me if the world starts ending.’
