Summary: Ianto was half hoping someone was coming for him. A double drabble.
Ianto groaned at the sound of someone knocking on his door. Nobody, apart from his sister, knew he lived here. Of course, he had to know that Jack would prove the exception to that rule. He should have known Jack would turn up eventually, he just didn’t expect it so soon.
Reluctantly he shuffled to the door and opened it. ‘Come to retcon me, have you?’
‘No.’ There was a genuine flash of hurt on Jack’s face at the inference. ‘I came to check on you.’
Ianto’s heart sank. Honest to God, he partly been praying for enough retcon to take him back to a time where Lisa and Torchwood ceased to exist. Everything would hurt a whole lot less if he did.
‘Can I come in?’ Jack said, making Ianto realise he’d left him standing at the door.
He sighed, pulling the door wider. ‘You’re the boss. You get to do what you like. It’s only us little people who don’t get to break the rules.’ He felt so hopeless that he didn’t care if the words came out bitter and harsh.
Jack just grabbed him and pulled him into a hug. ‘It’ll get better in time, I promise.’
