Summary: Jack sometimes wishes Ianto wasn't so forgiving. A double drabble.
‘You should go be with him,’ Ianto said, referring to Michael.
The words stung Jack more than he liked to admit. Here he was caught between a man he loved in the present, and a man that he'd known only for a few days and become infatuated with, albeit it forty years in the past. Here was Ianto giving Jack permission to be with someone he knew Jack had deep feelings for.
Jack almost wished Ianto would be jealous and stubborn, insisting that Jack stay the hell away from him and don't even think about kissing him. Instead Ianto was doing that selfless thing Jack hated. Go and make love to a man who's going to end up back in 1967 before he ends up dead, which they both knew would happen. What was worse, giving a man he'd cared about four decades ago one last moment of sheer happiness, or having to look Ianto in the eye once it was all said and done, in the full knowledge he'd have probably done the same thing behind his back whether he approved or not.
He'd go to Michael and be with him, only because he didn't deserve to die alone.
