Summary: Jack knows sometimes it's better to suffer alone. A double drabble.
‘Watch out that you don’t get stung,’ Jack warned his teammates as he paddled through the ocean, rubber waders all the way up to his armpits, looking like the most unsexy fisherman that ever lived.
‘It’s an alien jelly fish with tendrils that go for fifty feet in every direction,’ Owen replied. ‘I don’t think we’re going to have much of a say in matters. Ow!’ he said, getting his first sting. ‘That really hurts!’
‘Told you to watch out!’ Jack yelled, though trying not to wince as he said it, knowing that there were several already caught around his leg, piercing through the thick rubber and giving him what for. Gods but Owen wasn’t kidding. They really did hurt! ‘Everybody back out of the water!’ he yelled, ordering them away from the intense pain.
‘We can’t just leave it there,’ Gwen argued.
‘We’re not!’ Jack cried out in between gasps of pain, ‘but the thing has got itself wrapped around just about every part of me now, so if I just keep walking towards the shore, I should be able to drag it out with me.’ Assuming he didn’t pass out from the pain and drown first, of course.
