Summary: Jack is worried that Ianto is taking his undercover work too seriously. A double drabble.
Ianto prised apart the venetian blind slats and scowled as he peered through them.
‘Spying on the neighbours again?’ Jack asked, still lounging at the table with the newspaper, coffee and half a slice of marmite toast.
‘They’re at it again,’ Ianto replied, still keeping a baleful watch through the window. If he had lasers for eyes, Jack imagined them targeting someone right now and obliterating them to ash.
‘At what?’
‘Bob, perfecting his front lawn with those little nail clippers. One blade here, one blade there. As if it isn’t already perfect but just to make a show of it. I spent hours yesterday on hands and knees digging out the weeds and what do we have to show for it? A whole lot of little divots that look horrible.’
Jack frowned at his teammate and lover. ‘I’m starting to get a little concerned about just how seriously you're taking this whole “ best lawn of the month” award business.’
‘I don't care about some silly award! I care about them not winning every bloody thing in this stupid neighbourhood!’
‘Okay, but I still think I'm taking away all the sharp objects in the house until Bob goes back inside.’
