Summary: Sometimes Jack makes Ianto's life hard. A double drabble.
‘Space cow?’ Owen asked, looking sceptically at Jack.
Jack shrugged back, continuing to watch the speckled orange beast as it pottered aimlessly with a vague expression on its face. ‘More or less. Beyond that we’re pretty much splitting hairs. Ianto! He called out. Think you can take care of our latest guest?’
‘What does it eat?’
‘Grass.’
‘Finally!’
Jack frowned. ‘Huh?’
‘You finally give me something that's actually easy to feed and look after. Not, sorry Ianto but it only eats apples that have to be peeled and cored and chopped into pieces no larger than a thimble or, sorry Ianto, but it feeds on a daily mix of raw molasses, warmed, with fresh pea straw and an extra tablespoon of zinc to supplement for the fact that our atmosphere is naturally deficient, or sorry Ianto, we’ve adopted a space whale and you’re going to have to source three thousand pounds of plankton on a daily basis from god alone knows where. I’ve got just the paddock for it.’
Jack leaned in close to Owen. ‘Perhaps now’s not the best time to tell him that all that grass eating means it’s going to need milking twice a day as well.’
