Summary: Andy reports in an alien object that still requires some Torchwood expertise. A triple drabble.
‘Yep, okay, got it,’ Gwen said, jotting down the details on a small notepad. ‘That'll be one of ours for sure,’ she confirmed, circling the word "alien" several times. ‘We'll be down to pick it up.’ She paused, listening to the hesitation and further explanation. ‘He shoved it where?’ she finally exclaimed. Gods be good, she thought. Bad enough kids were stupid enough to be drug mules, but who put something alien up there? ‘Yeah, okay,’ she said. ‘We'll still come down.’
She hung up and looked over her shoulder. ‘Jack! Andy's got someone down the station with something alien for us. Wants to know if you can pop down there.’
Jack's head poked out his office door looking excited to be spared from paperwork. ‘Did he say what it was?’
‘Not sure Andy's qualified for that,’ she replied. ‘But it sounds like something you'll be very interested in. At least that's what he said.’
Jack beamed. ‘Great! Tell him I'll be there in ten. Ianto!’ he yelled out, even though he was hardly any further away than Gwen. ‘Care to join me?’
‘If you want to play fantasy dungeons and handcuffs we can do that here,’ came the deadpan reply.
‘Not as much fun though, is it?’
‘Actually,’ Gwen interrupted, ‘I need Ianto to sort out something for me.’
Ianto looked confused. ‘You do?’
‘Yep. Want to get it off my list today. Can't wait.’
Jack shrugged. ‘Sorry, Ianto, looks like you're benched. More excitement for me. All those cute police officers in their uniforms…’ He grinned, scooped up his coat and was gone in an instant.
‘What am I supposed to be doing?’ Ianto asked.
‘Being rescued,’ she replied.
‘From what?’
‘Something that's going to require gloves and Tupperware to remove.’
‘Ah.’ He cringed, understanding perfectly. ‘Thank you.’
