Summary: Tosh and Ianto lament being unworthy of love. A double drabble.
‘Here’s to another Valentine’s day as a sad, lonely, single,’ Tosh said, raising her glass of white wine as she sat curled up on her sofa in front of a time honoured rerun of Love Actually.
Ianto raised his own glass and they clinked together, before downing them and topping them back up.
‘Thanks for being here,’ Tosh said, ever so grateful that she at least wasn’t spending the night completely alone. ‘I know you’d much rather be spending it doing something romantic with Jack.’
Ianto reached towards the cheese platter, selecting a rolled up slice of salami. ‘I don’t think Jack does romantic,’ he confessed. ‘Not that I’ve seen anyway. No doubt he’s off brooding on a rooftop somewhere.’
Tosh grinned at the description. That did sound a lot more like Jack than roses and chocolates and fancy restaurants. ‘You don’t mind?’
Ianto chewed thoughtfully on a piece of cheese. ‘Honestly, I'm just glad he sees anything in someone as plain and boring as me.’
‘You’re not plain! You’re amazing. Clever, funny, brave, handsome…’
‘Mortal,’ Ianto added.
‘Can’t have it all,’ Tosh replied. ‘He’s lucky to have you.’
‘Just like someone will be happy to have you one day.’
