‘Now,’ Ianto began as they rounded the corner into the twisting maze of streets that made up the estate. ‘Do you remember what I told you?’
Jack rolled his eyes. ‘How could I forget? You’ve only repeated it about twenty times since this morning.’
‘I’m not having you embarrass me in front of my family,’ Ianto replied sharply.
‘Why does this have to be about you?’ Jack asked. ‘It’s me that’s meeting your family for the first time.’ He was never going to admit to Ianto that the idea of it made him nervous. He much preferred Ianto thinking he was just a little bit too laissez faire about it.
‘And it could very well be the last time. If you don’t behave yourself.’
Jack sighed at his lover’s histrionics. ‘I’m perfectly capable of keeping my elbows off the table, chewing with my mouth closed and remembering my P’s and Q’s. I’ve dined with Her Majesty, I'll have you know. My manners are fit for a Queen.’
‘Uh huh. And when was the last time she invited you back?’
Jack growled. ‘She’s a busy lady. So am I.’
Ianto huffed. ‘Well, just remember not to royally screw things up tonight.’
