Summary: Some things are too embarrassing to admit. A double drabble.
Jack slipped the key into the lock and let himself inside Ianto’s apartment, walking towards the bedroom. It was late and as he expected, Ianto was in bed, curled up under the duvet, soundly asleep. Of course, judging by the scent of laundry detergent and starch, he’d only been asleep a short while, using the evening to catch up on a mountain of laundry, including a sizeable pile for Jack.
He looked exhausted and he needed to get whatever sleep he could. You never knew when the next investigation would take up days at a time without a rest break. Still, it didn’t stop Jack from reaching down to rouse him from slumber. Jack had something he wanted to check out and he was embarrassed to admit that he didn’t want to go it alone. He liked having company these days, even if it wasn’t that he needed backup or a spare pair of hands. It was just nice to have someone there at his side, listening to him wax on about the old days of Cardiff or everything he knew about some distant part of the galaxy.
Ianto groaned sleepily. ‘You need me for something?’
‘I’ll always need you.’
